2009 Winter Dance School 13th – 16th July

    Peter Furness was born in Dubbo, Australia, and graduated from the Victorian College of the Arts in 1994 with a Bachelor of Dance degree.  Since then he has worked with Dance North, Expressions Dance Company, Leigh Warren and Dancers and joined New Adventures in 2004.

    Peter has also collaborated and performed with a number of independent projects and individual artists in Australia.  During his career he has worked with many of Australia’s noted choreographers and directors, collaborating on new works and performing a repertoire created by international artists.  He has toured widely around Australia and internationally with Australian companies.  A highlight of his career was the collaboration between Leigh Warren and William Forsythe entitled Quick Brown Fox, for which Peter was awarded a Green Room Award for Best Male Performer (Dance) in 2003.

    Peter has also performed as an actor with noted performances as Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet by Jean-Pierre Voos and as The Narrator in Phillip Glass’ opera Akhnaten by the SA State Opera.

    Peter has been commissioned for choreographic works by Extensions Dance Company, Expressions Dance Company and QUT Creative Industries.His choreographic highlight was a self produced solo work entitled Therapie in Adelaide Australia, which ran for a highly successful short season in 2004.

    Peter moved to London in 2004, with a view to expanding his dance experience on an international level and to broaden his global view of dance.In October of 2004, he joined New Adventures with Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake, performing at Sadler’s Wells, London and touring Japan and South Korea.  In 2005 he became Dance Captain of Swan Lake as it toured the UK, Paris and the USA.Peter is a widely experienced teacher of contemporary dance and has a healthy interest in Tertiary Dance Education, having taught at various universities in Australia and also to professionals and students alike at conferences and festivals across the country.

    Juniors (10:30am – 3:00pm) Grade 4 and below.

    Intermediate  (9:30am – 3:00pm) Grade 5 & 6.

    Seniors  (9:30am – 4:00pm) Grade 7 and above.(Grades refer to Ballet level)

    Maximum of 15 students per level.

    Students of Craze Dance Academy and dance students from the surrounding studios are welcome to attend.
